STETSON UNIVERSITY – COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES POSITION: Visiting Assistant Professor of World Languages and Cultures (French/Spanish) The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Stetson University invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor position in French with a second emphasis in Spanish, beginning August 2022. We seek a candidate who will bring a broadly inclusive and diverse perspective on language instruction from elementary to advanced levels in both French and Spanish. QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Ph.D. in French, Spanish, Applied Linguistics, or relevant field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate language teaching and be willing to teach French language courses at all levels, as well as Spanish courses at the elementary and intermediate levels. Candidates with a secondary specialization in psycholinguistics and/or computational linguistics are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be a collegial teacher-scholar ready to work with faculty in French and Spanish to grow the language program and prepare students for upper-level content courses and senior research. We are especially interested in and strongly encourage applications from candidates who have experience working with students from linguistically, culturally, racially, and socially diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students from underrepresented groups. RESPONSIBILITIES: The teaching load is four courses per semester (two classes in French and two classes in Spanish, with a possible change to three classes in French/and one in Spanish thereafter). Qualified candidates are expected to teach French language and culture from the introductory to advanced levels, as well as Spanish and culture from the elementary to intermediate levels.
