Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach language classes to students in grades PreK-5, with a focus on linguistics, and French in Grades 6 & 7.Guide students through the exploration of several languages, including French and Spanish.Fulfill an additional duty as assigned by the Lower School Division HeadPerform other duties as assigned by, and in support of, the Head of School.
The candidate will possess the following: fluency in Spanish and French.knowledge of Hispanic and Francophone culture and the teaching of culture in the language classroom.knowledge of ACTFL Can-Do Statements to design lessons.experience designing Performance Assessments informed by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.experience using authentic resources to design activities and students’ experiences. comfort using a variety of technologies, such as Google Drive, Google Classroom, Zoom, Google Meet.the ability to connect with students to develop healthy and supportive relationships. strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.the ability to collaborate easily and openly with others while also being self-directed.excellent judgment and responsiveness.the ability to maintain confidentiality.an innovative, growth mindset.knowledge of inquiry based pedagogy including project-based learning and other progressive approaches.knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and commitment to ongoing growth in this area.knowledge of mindfulness practices and how to embed them into the classroom experience.
